SAP Data Archiving Implementation

Business Challenge
The SAP database was 1.7 TB and had a fast rate of growth. Performance was degrading, and system maintenance costs were escalating. The Disaster Recovery side was also stopped due to huge data.

The business requirement was needed to access to historical data when necessary.

ECM Consulting helped the client with archiving strategy blueprint and implementation. ECM Consulting ’s analysis of the database provided the necessary details for planning an efficient archiving strategy for the long term. The result was to archive high-volume transactional data records in finance, costs accounting, profit centre accounting, profitability analysis and Logistics older than 14 months from the SAP database to external storage controlled by Livelink Suite for SAP Solution. This reduced the existing data volume by 50% for the initial run.

Livelink Doculink was implemented to allow users to transparently access both online and archived date in the same screen.
